17 Oct THE Table Is Here!
Yesterday, I was happy happy happy to see this guy. I hugged him at the door! After all of these months, it was here. THE table was here, the table I dreamed of, convinced my husband of, paid for, and waited for as it arrived from Canada. I had cleaned the space the table was to be placed (which consequently is the area in the above picture), and couldn’t wait for them to bring it in and set it up. I was giddy, folks, let’s just be honest.
And then, the delivery man pulled the pallet to the back, and stopped. He just stopped and stared at me. Me with my expectant, excited face. He handed me a piece of paper and said, “Ooookay, sign here”. Stammering, I asked, “You’re not going to bring it in?” He looked at me with his most incredulous look and said, “I can’t get that in there!” What else could I do? I signed. And then I stood and stared at this thing, wondering what to do.
It made for a great little perch for the kids.
Luckily, I thought of a guy who has helped me move things before, I like to call him Mover Mike. It was complete providence that he was literally five minute from my house, so he and his mover buddy came over and saved me. I gave them hugs, too. Then came the fun part. I finally saw it with my own eyes…
I. love. it. You know how when something is kind of out of the box, and you’re just not sure how it will look? I mean, it looks great in your mind, but will that translate to real life? This table completely exceeded all expectations, it is absolutely beautiful. I am enamored with the wood and the rusticity and the contrast of the metal. And the green?? It is emerald happiness.
There were two things I was worried about regarding the table – the state of the wood top and the tops of the seats. I needn’t have worried, they are fabulous, and I don’t need to lift a finger to change anything.
It’s neat to think about this table, and the stories that were shared around it when it was sitting in a factory all of those many years ago. I imagine the men with their metal lunch boxes. I’m sure they would think it is crazy that I think their lunch table is so awesome!
Come back tomorrow for sofa and lighting updates in this room!

Posted at 19:34h, 17 OctoberElizabeth, this was such a nice comment. That makes my day coming from you!! Thank you so much, what an encouragement to what has been an awfully long process. Since we have always lived in old houses, it is the very first space in my own home that I have drawn and designed from the ground up. It’s very satisfying. Thanks again for your gracious words. xoxo
