17 Oct The Perfect Holiday Tradition – Table Grace Cards
Many of you may remember this post from last year when I shared my Thanksgiving table scheme ideas.
That table was so pretty (still love it!), but I received the most comments on the Table Grace cards I told you about. I had received a set from my dear friend, Kelly Kay, and I talked about how they had become a family tradition of ours during the holidays.
Well, Kelly Kay just happens to be an amazing artist and the owner of a beautiful line of paperie called Kelly Kay Paper! We discussed how wonderful it would be if she created a set to sell so people could carry on the tradition in their homes. After a year of planning and painting (she did all of the art herself!) and pouring her heart and soul into this project, I am very very happy to say the Table Grace Cards are for sale!
This sure-to-become-a-family-heirloom set of 16 cards (31 prayers) comes in a lovely navy box with “Table Grace” embossed on the front in white.
When you open the box using the grosgrain ribbon, you will find “the story” of this family tradition along with the cards.
The tradition was begun by Kelly Kay’s grandmother Maw-Maw, who started using a similar set of these cards at her holiday table many years ago. It has been neat to hear stories of how each family member had a favorite card, and how the reading of the cards when gathered together were a special and sacred time.
Each card is like a piece of art, with each design being an original work in oil pastel by Kelly Kay. They are printed on a thick, high quality paper with a slight texture, and I marveled at each one’s detail when she first showed me her final product. Here is the top card with the “Table Grace” design, and on the back is the prayer for the first day.
Each card is double sided,
which is wonderful since it can stand on your table.
The inscriptions on the cards are a “collection of classic hymn lyrics, common table prayers, poems & Bible verses”, Kelly Kay says, and each works together to create a story of encouragement and promise.
You can use the cards in many ways – you can read one each day, pass the box around your table before a holiday meal, or position a card at each place setting.
They look great whether you place them on the plate,
or you stand them up.
I think these are wonderful for any gathering of loved ones, but I also think they are the perfect GIFT! (I have a long list of people who I want to give the Table Grace Cards for Christmas!) Want to bring the most meaningful hostess gift to the hostess with the mostest? These are your answer! I could also see the cards as a sweet stocking stuffer or a sentimental gift to your best friend, aunt, mother-in-law, daughter-in-law, sister, mom, neighbor, or co-worker.
Weaving your story into your home goes so far beyond pillows and textiles and furniture, it is the “feel” you bring to your abode. Traditions like these are so important – THIS is what the people you love remember – it goes beyond what your home looks like, and lends itself more to the heart and thought you bring to your space.
I know Kelly Kay’s heart in designing these is to bring a little grace into your home. By weaving her memories, faith, and artistic hand together to create these cards, she hopes they become as much a part of your family’s story as they are hers. You can purchase them here (get them before she is sold out!), and KK is offering free shipping for orders over $50! And if you have any sort of party coming up or any stationery needs, you should definitely check out her website – https://kellykay.com/. Kelly Kay’s work is so unique and so beautiful!
I would love to share these with you, so I am giving away four sets of Table Grace Cards! (two from comments left on my site and two on my Instagram – follow me there for that announcement) Leave a comment on this post to enter your name in the drawing, and good luck! I will announce and contact the winners next week.
I’m so proud of my friend and her work, thank you for letting me share it with you. And you know what will be on my holiday table (every time). ; )
**This post is dedicated to the memory of Elaine Dry, Kelly Kay’s beloved Maw-Maw who began this table grace tradition, and faithfully upheld it for many decades. She passed away ten days ago at age 89 surrounded in love by her family. She rejoins the love of her life, Bob, and I know she would be so thrilled to see her tradition passed on to so many.**
Until the next story.
xo, G

And what a precious tradition to start in our homes. These are the kinds of traditions I want my children remembering about their childhood holidays. Lastly, what a perfect time for the debut of these cards and a wonderful way to honor her grandmother.
