Secret Sources: Outdoor Velvet Fabrics

Secret Sources: Outdoor Velvet Fabrics

**If you are discovering “A Storied Style” for the first time through my collection going on right now at JossandMain.com, WELCOME!  Take a moment and look around, and if you would like to subscribe, please enter your email address in the box to the right.  So glad you are here, I can’t wait to hear your stories!**

Chances are, if you love velvet, but have pets and kids, you have looked at outdoor velvet options.  Velvet naturally ages over time, which I rather like, but of course, if you have a busy household, your velvet may age at a more swift pace.  Therefore, an outdoor velvet may be the way to go.  They can withstand nearly anything, and spills are easily cleaned up.

Since my collection debuted on JossandMain.com yesterday (make sure you see the Lookbook – they did a fantastic job!), I have received several emails about the gorgeous peacock blue fabric shown on the chesterfield.  (You can see this photo in my Lookbook – and on the home page when you go to JossandMain.com)  Outdoor velvets are typically very pricey, and can be listed at $200 a yard and up!  However, I have found a secret source for the beautiful Sunbrella outdoor velvets.

Housefabric.com has a terrific array of outdoor fabric, but I especially love the colorways they have available in the Sunbrella velvets.

Sunbrella Velvet, Teal (this is the fabric on the Pents chesterfield)

Sunbrella Velvet, Brown

Sunbrella Velvet, Apple Green

Sunbrella Velvet, Light Blue

Sunbrella Velvet, Grey

Housefabric.com has other colors of the Sunbrella velvet, and you may view all of them here.  Can you believe they are $16.95 a yard?!  That is a steal, I tell ya!  They also have some other outdoor velvets that are not Sunbrella.  To see them, click here, scroll to the bottom, and you will observe they have a bit different texture, but are lovely just the same.  All of these fabrics may be ordered as a sample in case you are color matching, for $5 apiece.

Aren’t you glad I let my secret out of the bag?!

Are your wheels turning?  What can you do with this secret source?

Love your designs and fabrics. I would love to wear your collections but your soft neutral colors wash me out. I have very dark brown hair and neutral skin. I suit stronger colors.
Thanks for all of your hard work.
