19 Feb Easy Accessorizing
I posted the above image on my Instagram yesterday (follow me @astoriedstyle), and it made me think of a recent conversation I had with a friend. She was telling me she thought she was terrible at accessorizing, and we were talking through it. I actually am not very knick knacky and prefer my rooms to have a few pretty vignettes, snapshots if you will, of pleasant arrangements, and that’s it. First of all, let’s just be honest, I do not like dust-catchers, and that is what a bunch of accessories everywhere feels like to me. And also, I think you can make your spaces more personal through a few well-appointed items.
Small collections of classic items like silver, glass bottles, and books are forever go-to’s, and they go with nearly every style.
You can keep a cluster of glass bottles filled with simple cuttings from your yard,
or not like mine at the moment.
That is a small built-in shelf in my downstairs powder bath that used to be a window before we finished the new room. I wasn’t sure what to put in those small shelves and ended up raiding my prop closet for the old glass bottles and vintage silver cups. You could easily go to your local Goodwill or thrift store and find some similar items. And voila! Accessorizing.
Anything else that are go-to items for you when it comes to accessorizing?
