26 Nov Black Friday
On Black Friday, most people get to the stores for TV’s, laptops, and other high-tech electrical items. My husband and I? We head to our local salvage/junk store to buy a pair of twenty foot long antique iron gates.
And a set of antique iron arbors.
Yup, we’re cooler than cool. Ha!
The gates came from an old hotel torn down recently in Fort Worth. They are twenty feet long and seven feet high, and while it may seem like a purchase one makes for a rather grand driveway entrance, we are going to attach them to a rather unfortunate looking length of chain link fence in our side yard. It will give a bit of privacy and is MUCH cheaper than extending the tall wood fence. I think it will be interesting and quite pretty once some vines grow up on it.
The arched arbors we played with until we came up with a configuration we thought would be different and cozy for our side yard dining situation. Imagine it with greenery growing up the arches, upholstered cushions on the bench seats, and a large oval dining table in the center.
I do love sold tags with my name on it. Especially when I have gotten a bargain, and I have a lovely vision of how my purchases will transform. Stay tuned…
What is your most random Black Friday purchase?
