03 Jun Beyond the Paper Snowflake
Did you ever cut paper snowflakes in school? I cut some with my kids this past Christmas and remembered how much fun it is. (although I almost always feel a pang of disappointment when I open my snowflake. It is never as intricate as I have tried to make it. anyone else feel that way? ha! #realworldproblems)
Last week, I stumbled upon these images and the work of these papier artists. It is pretty fantastic to see what they can do! Which of course, is way past the paper snowflake.
How would you like to walk down this hallway? Pretty magical, right? Just don’t trip or let anyone under 25 go down it. Ever.
You will notice many of these paper designs are by Bespoke Design. They define themselves on their site as a “paper craft and industrial design company” and operate out of South Africa. In fact, none of these artists and art installations are USA based; they are all overseas.
It seems to me that above the bed is kind of an artsy place. A place where you can do something interesting.
Carol Gearing is an artist based in the UK that does all sorts of unique designs with paper. You should check out her portfolio on flickr. It is quite mesmerizing! (she is also an interior designer and does beautiful work! check out that site here)
This type of art could be super fun for a kids room. Especially if it was done in a less serious sort of way – like the one below. So whimsical!
Note: I couldn’t find much info about these artists, but their site is here.
Reminder: This is Paper. W.O.W.
Here are a couple of other installations keophila has done. This type of paper art would be simple to do and quite impactful!
