16 Jul A Picture to Ponder: Clawfoot Shower
Do images ever pop into your mind that have inspired you? Maybe a delightful design element was featured or a beautiful room you loved? On my computer, there is a folder entitled “Home Ideas” full of these photographs. Whenever I need inspiration, I look through these lovely depictions of what I hope my home will be. I thought it would be fun to feature these every once in awhile. Maybe you have never seen the photo I choose, or maybe you just need a reminder of its awesomeness. Enjoy the first “picture to ponder”…
Today’s subject of interest: the clawfoot shower stall. Everyone has seen clawfoot tubs, but I had never seen a clawfoot shower until I saw this a few years ago. Isn’t this bathroom amazing?
The incredible shower, plus the lacquered yellow chest of drawers, coupled with the antique-y wallpaper, coupled with the terry cloth upholstered chair = me breathless. If you are designing a bathroom short on space, but don’t want to compromise on style with a regular ‘ole shower stall, this is the design for you!
A variety of finishes are available for the feet of the shower pan if you so desire. However, what makes this a slam dunk in my opinion is the custom glass enclosure. Here is what the pan (this is also called a shower tray) looks like with just a curtain.
Not quite as breathtaking is it? It appears almost…naked.
As much as I love this look, I’m not quite sure how I feel about the clawfoot tub and shower in the same room. This looks more staged than a real life bathroom.
Pretty spectacular alone though, right? I think this idea would add so much character to a bathroom that needed a little spice!

Posted at 14:59h, 18 JulyMY favorite!! I wanted to put this EXACT shower in my bathroom, then I saw the price tag. 🙁 I think it was around $10k?? That was a couple years ago, so I don’t recall exactly.
I LOVE your style though and this image is full of playful elegance. I’m glad to see someone else was as inspired by that exact bathroom pic as I was!! I love your color choices and entry makeover, too. Can’t wait to follow what else you do!! Thanks for sharing… 🙂

Posted at 15:09h, 18 JulyThank you, Kelly! Wow!! 10k??? Whoa. I’m sure the glass enclosure has a lot to do with that since it would have to be custom. I may need to teach myself to do glasswork. 🙂 Thank you for your comment, and thank you for following!

Posted at 01:10h, 14 AugustOh I know, KK, I love it, too. I even thought about doing it in the Master Bath when we redo it. It’s such a neat twist in a classic design.
